     The column stands 8' high and its circumference is 16"x 16". The east and north  surfaces are polished symbolizing the Master Mason Degree and the west and south surfaces are rough finished symbolizing the Fellowcraft and Entered Apprentice Degrees.

     The east surface is inscribed with the "Square and compasses" and the letter "G" well known symbols of Freemasonry. Also inscribed on the east surface are the words "Making good men better". The top of the column is rough or broken symbolizing the "broken column" a Masonic Landmark.

     The column and base was paid for and installed by Orion Lodge #51 and dedicated to 100 years of Freemasonry in Penticton.
